PLYMOUTH CINEMAS

MGM CINEMA

From Sunday May 24th 1992 the Cannon Cinema, formerly the ABC Plymouth, and before that the Royal Cinema, became known as the MGM Cinema.

The films showing at that time were "Wayne's World", "Memories of an Invisible Man" and "My Own Private Idaho".

In September 1994 Mr Clive Jones retired as general manager to be replaced by Miss Carole Philips.

In June 1995 the Virgin Group bought the MGM chain of cinemas for £200 million.  However, in the following April they sold it on to ABC Cinemas and it was once again renamed as the ABC Cinema.
